Values of Used Motorcycles in the UK?
|
Check this out:
It appears that a brit in Minneapolis MN USA is trying to export a bike
to the UK.
Is the price difference between the two countries large enough to make
the used motorcycle business worthwhile?
|
Why don't you do some research, dumbo?
|
Isn't posting here, soliciting opinions, "research"?
|
I did some "research" this morning. Local bike shop had a '77 GT750 Kettle
for 3 grand. Rebuilt engine, Allspeeds and orange metalflake paint.
I like metalflake paint - very seventies.
|
One more research question, I understand that the above item is a '77
Kawasaki 750 and it's being offered for 3,000 pounds. Am I correct?
If that's the case then the exchange rate would equal 3,000 pounds x
1.92 or $5,760.
According to the "book price it's worth about $860 here.
$5,760 there or $860 here? Am I missing something or is there a huge
error in my calculations and or assumptions.
(Let the insults begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Love and kisses,
Shakey Jake

The short answer is "yes".
|
here's what's available from a dealer in Minneapolis:
Minneapolis is, of course, the locale for zatamm.
|
Well, the action does extend a little further across the US than just
the twin cities.
|
(I need to read it again one of these decades.)
I might just try to export one.
|
Point of information. Contrary to my original posting the ZATAMM bike
was actually a Honda CB77 305 Superhawk.
|
Are those "eye protectors" mandatory, or is he only wearing them to win a
bet? I must say though, those two blokes have a sartorial elegance some of
us can only dream of.
|
Just like in civilised countries, eye protection is in fact required
in most US states. I'll be quite happy to be riding wearing the same
sort of gear if I am lucky enough make it to the age of those two geezers.
|
Ah. That puts it in a new light - I thought you /were/ one of those
two geezers: I had my money on the one without the cap.

This is sweet:

|
What a tasteless thing to do to an otherwise nice bike.
|
Note the exhaust: stumpy, loud and tasteless.
|
That appears to be one of the original black engined Z1s, and if it is
then its extremely rare and sought after. I can't understand the
lowering and fitting of custom parts on a bike like that. The dealer
would get far better money with an original 4-4 exhaust and stock
seat/shocks.
I don't have a problem with the way it's been done, but if you want to
customise a bike like that, find something not quite as rare and
desireable.
|
To be honest, it could be anything from an original Z1 to a Z1B, because
the black engine paint isn't original (the cylinder head fin edges were
left shiny on the original)

I like the stying of the seat, wonder where TF I could get one like
that from.
|
Does the Corbin label give you a clue?
|

|
What about import duties, freight, insurance costs, etc..
I'd be interested in shipping....... I think, I've never done one.
But I sure do have a fine
selection of used motorcycles available.
