Exhaust popping

I have taken the baffles out of the SBK can, and ok the noise is more
pleasant , But I am also getting popping when gearing down.
I have also been told that the mixture may now be too lean , and could
cause engine damage.
Now the noise although a little noisier than before, still isnt exactly
ear bashing, and Im wondering wether its worth it.
I had this on my old race bike, it was a slight leak in the exhaust system
and when it was tightened it cured it.
Popping on down shift is fairly normal with an open can, so I wouldn't
worry too much about that. However it will almost certainly be running
too lean if you haven't re-jetted/re-mapped (I have no idea if it's
carb or FI), unless it's a self-adjusting closed loop EFI system
(highly unlikely).

If you had the fueling sorted for the SBK can, it /might/ be ok, but
I'd still get it dyno'd. If you didn't have anything done for the SBK,
get thee to a dyno centre, & prepare to spend around £200-250 if it's
carb, or £500 if it's EFI & needs a Power Commander.

Remember that it's not just about the noise (or at least it shoudn't
be). A race can is meant to give you more power, but if you don't get
the fueling sorted, you'll have less power than with the standard can,
& probably a few flat spots too.
Cheers Krusty,
Can was installed before I bought the bike, cant see any receipts for a
dyno though!
Its the first 636 carbed version it doesnt seem to have flat spots , and
my mates Cbr600rr cant keep up. But can anyone tell me of a dyno centre
near Newcastle?
any use?
Tells me that Malton in N Yorkshire is the closest, which isnt too bad I
suppose, especially as my gf lives in York.
Cheers Matey.
