Scary Gilera

Well.. now the scoot handles well for a scoot. No more that pivot in the
middle feeling and seemingly random over steer / under steer when going
round corners. Plus, the exhaust no longer rubs on the plate. Woohoo.
That Koso dash looks better, plus it's got a rev counter. Supprising how
low the RPM is on this engine, never goes above 7500 rpm in town. The
speedometer is a tad on the small side, although it has a programable
speed warning light.

The only down side is that the vibration levels at the handle bars have
gone right up. In fact, everything vibrates. I'll have to keep an eye
out for falling off bits.
Big bore conversion wasn't it? Wonder if the new piston has put the
crank balance factor out a tad.
More than likely.
Yep, 125 to 172.

The crank is the same as the 180 item, I think it's the high compression
head that's got something to do with it, 12:1 instead of 9:1 or there
abouts. I may get a full circle race crank for it sometime.

Keep your fingers crossed the vibes don't see off some delicate
electronic component.
Everything like that is rubber mounted, I looked when I had the bodywork
off.
My Bandit's ignition box is duct taped in on the rear mudguard. One of
the mounting's for it wore away and the other one broke when I had a
recent mudguard/rear wheel interface problem. I'll get in there tomorrow
and drill some holes so I can cable tie it in properly.
The cable tie the choice fastening for SOBs.
Red electrical tape, if you please, the cable tie is far to hitec for
use on a _proper_ SOB.
Despite the diagrams showing the ECU on my Quota being mounted on four
AV blocks, there weren't any rear ones; the back of the ECU simply
rested on the rear mudguard. In fact, there aren't even any mounting
holes. I've had a bit of bubble-wrap shoved under it these last few
years.

Is the vibration bad all through the rev range?
Gets better the faster you go.
