Bandit exhaust
|
My bandit's exhaust (600) is blowing where the downpipes join the endcan...
|
The downpipes do not join the endcan. The headers feed into the
collector, then exit via the link pipe to the end can.
I'll betcha it's blowing behind the chatty bit of chrome-on-a-bean-tin
at the joint of collector and lionk pipe. That's 'cos they all do
that - the only bit of mild steel in an otherwise all stainless
exhaust.
|
Best/easiest solution to fix it for tomorrow's MOT?
|
You can't, unless you can find a welder who can do stainless, before
your test.
|
Gun gum.
|
If it has gone in the usual manner, it will be beyond Gun Gum -
certainly for MoT porpoises.

Take it to an exhaust centre and get them to weld a bit of pipe on , thats
what I did. Did it while I waited and didn't even charge me!
That's the easy bit 'though, you won't be able to get the bolts out of the
cylinder head without at least one of them snapping off flush with the head
leaving with a whole load of much bigger problems.
MOT tomorrow ?
You'll be lucky!

If you're anywhere near Romford look up Gibson Exhausts. They'll be
repairing mine soon. For now I've wrapped a Holts exhaust bandage round
it and that seems to have done a decent temporary repair.
