ot: and you thought there were some saddos on here

just been taking a look at the RX-8 owner's club's online forum.

Most of the actual content is OK, but a large majority of the posters
have full details of which factory-fitted accessories they have (sat
nav, which radio, exhausts, etc.) on their cars, right down to which
sort of floormats they have.
So of course you have started to list yours? Don't forget to list the
particular brand and grade of fuel you *always* use.

Even the MR2OC isn't so sad.
Indeed. Trouble is, I think I'm getting sad as regards 400 Four stuff.
I've now got the factory brochure, service manual, dealer set-up book,
and large Tamiya plastic kit. I'm even thinking of getting a second kit
so I can have one made up and one in the box.

Oh, and I recently bought a 400F monogrammed sweatshirt as well.
I think they're all the same. I couldn't quite bring myself to attend a
meet for spanish-built german cars, as they all had the same "look at
me I've got xyz fitted!".

I don't think I quite fitted in there from the moment I said I wasn't
going to modify it or tune it in any way, as it'd never be fast. It was
like telling a whole group of children that santa didn't exist.
You should try the Fiesta ST one then. I went on there looking to see
if it was possible to retrofit the Ford factory Bluetooth module to
the car and came away feeling dirty because my car doesn't have a
shopping list on the door.
what, you mean the list of what aftermarket shocks/exhausts/tyres etc.
physically printed on the side of the car?
Yeah that's the thing.

That always makes me laugh.
Me too, particularly as none of them are actually fitted to most cars
with shopping lists. Hence the name.
I really must get around to taking a picture of the Toyota Supra that
parks near where I used to live; the body kit looks like it's
partially melted, and the rear wing is taller than the roof of the
car. Plus a "shopping list" with about 10 names/logos in it down the
side.
A mate of mine has a Supra which is fairly entertaining to drive. The
standard spoiler on the rear is the same height as the roof. It has
to be otherwise you wouldn't be able to see anything through the rear
window.
I know what the standard spoiler looks like - this is more like a big
wing, with two vertical "tail fins" either side, supported on sort of
flat "electricity pylon" style affairs mounted on the boot.
I saw an otherwise very standard looking (1) Mk3 Astra estate with one of
those on the back the other day.

'tards...

(1) As in, a cooking model with steel rims etc.
That beats that's down the road from my office then.

Brushed aluminium wing about 4 foot wide and 6 inches deep. Mounted
on twin carbon pylons.

On an L-reg Metro.

I did see a more horrible car the other day, but only once - it was an
old 1980s Ford Orion, in metallic blue, but with white "tribal tattoo"
markings over every body panel, roof, bonnet etc.
I know a chap who put black tribal decals all over his 1.4 206. He
got bored of them and took them off after a year and ended up with a
nice effect of slightly darker tribal markings than the paintwork
because the paint had faded over the year.
