Christmas gluttony corner
|
Tomorrow, at the Chateau, we will mostly be eating:
|
Followed by an afternoon dozing in front of The Queen, I shouldn't wonder.
|
Yes he did and he made it back as well.
And my Christmas dinner was a rather splendid Thai meal in a very nice
restaurant.
|
Welcome back, your majesty.
Glad you had a good time.

A small turnip.
Another turnip, smaller and slightly older.
A fluffy, pre-owned Werthers sweet.
|
Is that a whole pre-owned Werthers sweet or is it part sucked?
|
We splashed out on a whole one. It's a bit older, but we were lucky to get
one this late in the season.
|
|
|
A whole one!? I suppose "we" is the operative word here, you are
catering for the family?
I hated being youngest, all I ever got was the sliver right at the very
end and the certain knowledge that it had been in my sisters mouth and
from what I heard from my mates round the alleys it weren't just sweets
that she was fond of. Mind you she was partial to her Brandy and
Babychams in them days and there was no way she was going to afford the
amount she drank on the percentage her Grandmother used to let her keep
from her regular work.

Cold tea.

You want to collect exhaust pipe drippings you do, gettem while they're

Actually, that's what we've used to melt the tea.

hot.

Hangover and indigestion.

Nice dresed crab, a whole lobster, and some salmon smoked by The Doctor
in her smokery (Furst time I think I've mentioned this thing. Looks like
a decapitated Dalek and is utterly brilliant).
Goose. Ham cooked by The Doctor's Mum.
Usual trimmings. Sprouts[1] from the allotment. Spuds roasted in the
goose fat, of course.
Pud, mince pies, etc. Large tin of Quality Street[2] at the ready, ifthe
kids haven't already nicked all the Toffee Pennies from it.
Copious quantities of Speckled Hen, dry sherry, gin, claret, white
Burgundy and champagne are standing guard. Oh, and some malt Scotch.
[1] I promise not to mention these again
[2] Large tins - Quality Street or Roses? Discuss.
|
Quality street. The alloy used in roses has too high a zinc content, it
clogs up the arteries.
|
I used to make both tins. Roses tins used cheaper steel!
|
|
|
Green and Blacks, without the tin.
