Hippo Home

Many thanks to Pip and Elly for the delivery of the Hippo.

I've had a quick play with it, and concluded that it's not something I
want to sell as a going[1] concern. The wiring's a rat's nest, the
engine's never been that happy, and all-in-all, I've concluded that
parting it out on Ebay is the way forward.

There's a real pleasure to be had in stripping a bike, knowing that
you'll never have to put it back together. :^)
Cue angle-grinder apocalypse, then?
Possibly. So far it's only been the infamous LH drill bits and the
Dremel-alike that have been brought into play, but who knows what
pleasures lie ahead?

I'm going to pull the heads and cylinders off, I suspect all is not
well. If they look OK, I'll bung them back on and flog the motor as a
unit. If (as seems likely) there's some unpleasantness occurring in
cylinder number three, I'll pull off what's OK and bin the rest.

Anything that's 1000 -> 1100 compatible that you want me to hang on to?
It seems to have an aftermarket ignition system, is your still points
and stuff?
ITYF Platy has a 1200 which has electronic ignition.
