Windshield Height

I'm curious. And this question is mainly for rider of cruisers and
tourers.

Do you prefer to look through or over your windshield? And if you
Over it.

Mine is angled such that I get very little turbulance and most of the bugs
either hit the ws, or go up and over.

Jeff

And if you
JUST over it. With the right height, the wind carries most rain, bugs, and all
over your head but you are not looking thru the windshield.
OVER.

prefer to look through, do you sometimes find that the rain, bugs and
glare make it difficult to see?
If you look over your windscreen, there are two less rain-spotted
surfaces to attempt to see through.

And with my face shield up in the wind, the rain is usually carried off
to the side. Slow left-right movement of the head facilitates this.
I've heard that the top of the windshield should be even with the tip of
your nose. this allows you to see over in rain or mist, yet still lets you
duck behind it if need be.
mine is a little low, closer to the bottom of my chin. I have slouched
down behind it in the rain, peeking over at times.
my problem with it being that low is the wind rolling off the top catches
the little visor on the helmet. in a strong wind gust, I sometimes feel
like a bobble-head doll...
I think you just answered the question about WHY it's better to look
over.

pooder was here with both answers
My Valk came with a windshield, but I rarely use it because of
glare. It's tall enough that I have to look through it unless
I stretch out a little. Maybe I'll trim 'er down....
Chopped mine down to be able to see over. If you're looking through, riding
at night, into the sun, or in rain/fog doesn't work too well.
I'm with all of the above.Just at the height that deflects the wind
over you and your helmet under normal riding and thus keeps wind-chill
off your body and preferably angled so doesn't cause undue drag but
also set so that you can heads-down just below it when
required.Customize to suit you, your height on the bike.

They should not be used as a,"Wind-screen" as in a car otherwise you
may as well be in a car.Use as a,"Wind/rain" deflector.
