Why do you wear a vest?

So what are the practical reasons for wearing a vest? I can see on a
hot day if you don't want to wear a leather jacket, a vest offers

If you can do that you need more gear. I don't wear my cold weather gear in
summer, or mesh in a downpour.

I use mine to carry my pocket watch in.

Its got all these reflector strips on it and people can see me better
at night.

Aside from the nifty pockets [1] and something to attach my colors to, my
vest keeps my shirt from blowing up over my head.[2]
