Classic Bike Values
|
Hiya Those off lottsa knoledge.
I'm looking for a site in Aus that can give me an idea on the value of
classic bikes.
I'm looking at buying a mates old 74 CB750 four. No Reg or RWC, Needs
little work to tidy it up for rego & RWC. Asking $450. Also has a Wisco
|
It was a DOHC two valve motor with a rev limit of 10,000 a really
interesting bike that took on the brits and won with 200-300 cc's less.
|
Nope, the TX 500 definitely had 4 valves per cylinder John. I had one and
it certainly had 4 per cyclider when I had to disassemble it to get some
metal welded back in between the exhaust valves.
|
Alan I was referring to the CB450, I was aware of the TX500's problem with
cracking heads, at the time I was working in a Brisbane Motorcycle
Dealership (Cycle World) and regularly had lunch with the workshop staff
discussing such matters.

Beaudesert Rd or the gabba shop ?
|
The one on Logan Road at the Gabba. It was a Honda dealership at the time
owned by Fred Drake.

Nah, mine would rev to 11,500 before valve float set in.
|
|
810 kit in it.
|
Nah it's not worth a cent over $445.

Now you got the idea, buy it and ride it, and you will have it forever I
haven't worn mine out yet but I have rebuilt it a few times :)

If it runs then why ask ?
|
I'm in 2 minds of what to do to it. Restor or Street Fighter it.
If it's going to be worth around 10K or more Restored, then that's the
way I'll go, But if it's only going to be worth around 5K, then I'll
thing about Streetfightering it instead.
And yes it does run. My mate bought it about 13yrs ago, he soon realised
it had a bent frame. He got another frame of a mate of his & desided to
restor it for himself. he redid the fork seals, polished up the frontend
& cleaned the motor & G\box, Did other little stuff, but never got it
back on the Rd. He now just takes his kids for rides around the back yrd
every couple of weeks or so, So it hasn't really been sitting for any
real length of time.
I haven't seen the bike for about 6yrs, But this mate of mine I can
trust when he says it only needs little stuff (Tidy up some wiring,
Panel are straight but need attention paintwise) to put it back on the Rd.
Another mate of mine who's into cars, He has a 69 Stang, a HT 327
Bathurst Monaro, XY GT Replica & a 2004 Monaro & a 2004 Busa, said to
grab it, The value of the Honda 750 Four & other bikes of that era are
starting the increase rapidly.
I'm going to get the engine & frame No's & have them checked with Vic
Rds to make sure it's clean. My mate hasn't changed the frame No over
yet, but can get me reciepts.
Spose I just want to know i'm heading in the rite direction.

I think you should do it, if you decide otherwise, let me know the
details, and I'll grab it.
