Are there any motorcycling Parrotheads out there?

Every so often I run into someone who is both a rider and a Jimmy
Buffett fan. Sometimes they are on the Buffett mailing lists, but more
I suppose so. Not a Buffet fan myself. Actually that's a huge
understatement, but everybody's entitled to their own taste.

Your post did remind me of a night a few years back when the
Jacksonville ice hockey team somehow managed to schedule Parrothead
night and Motorhead (a now-defunct Harley aftermarket shop) night at the
hockey game.

Presented for your approval:
On a single night at a venue presenting a sports exhibition in which
none of the attendees had the slightest interest a large, inebriated
crow consisting of nearly equal parts Hawaiian-shirted, faux parrot
shouldered, foam shark fin wearing accountants and their chubby wives
and, on the other hand, leather-jacketed, metal belted, boot wearing
scowling accountants with their barely clad chubby wives.

As I walk through my life observing the human condition as if I were
from another planet, that stands out as a truly surreal and insidiously
creepy night.

often than not they are fellow riders that I run into that also have an
interest in things tropical and Buffettesque.

I set up a Buffett mailing list several days ago at

but I think that I'm going to expand that a bit and try to incorporate
some motorcycling as it relates to Buffettesque places and such. After
all, a lot of the Parrotheads from years ago have now become GOP's
(Grumpy Old Parrotheads) and it seems like only those of us that ride
are getting out and seeing the World these days (a gross
oversimplification AND MEANT AS A BIT OF A JOKE but I do find that
among folks that love to travel that many of us do it by motorcycle).

Anyhow, whether you ride or not, but especially if you ride, drop by

and we'll have to see if we cannot tell some tales.
