This type 2 diabetes is *terribly* fashionable this season. Everyone
who's anyone has it.
Incurable disease, innit? Could pop your clogs at any moment. Beige ZX-10R
time, methinks.

I know nuffink about diabetes, what's the impact?
You mean I'm finally someone?

Oh dear - your foreboding in an earlier post was all too prescient then.
I'm more than happy to remain an unfashionable nobody, TYVM.

Comiserations, old chap.
Probably have to be a bit quick like, might find the aforementioned bit
attached to a Tiger, being matching an' all.
{{{Hugs}}}
Gerroff!
You big softie.

Seriously, my Mother had and my brother has type 1 diabetes and live[ed]
fairly normal lives. It's all about management of blood sugar, I am told.
don't ignore any advice you get. Unlike my father, who managed to
barely escape blindness and is currently on the list for dual kidney
replacement.
Hmm...

No, I'm taking it pretty seriously. I've decided to bid a fond farewell
to booze this weekend before starting the pills next week.

Fortunately, the kidneys are in good shape ATM, according to the blood
test this week.

Pass the sweeteners...
Here, have a biscuit.
Check it isn't soggy before you eat it Nigel.

Actually - have you ever tried sucking a sweetner? If not, you should.
If you're doing your own blood test each day, then perhaps you'd like to
try adding 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to one of your meals. My mum has
type-2 and finds this trick keeps her blood-sugar level low, regularly
below 6 on her machine thingy.
Can I recommend Xylitol? It tastes the same as sugar, can be used in
cooking just like sugar, and doesn't get metabolised using the insulin
pathways and has no impact on blood sugar levels..
It is a tad expensive but it tastes much much much better than the
artificial sweeteners.

Oh - and bad luck - you can now join the 'stick a needle in the finger
3 times a day for 3 months' club when you do your blood glucose tests..
Indeed. It seems my blood sugar and cholesterol are fine at the moment.
It's just a shame my head, neck, shoulders and upper back are doing a
fine impression of being as stiff as a board at the moment.
Err, is this a diabetes thing or overexertion down the gym?
This is exactly what I've been having physio on for the last few months
- and in my case it's down to poor posture and stress - exactly as you
surmise later on.
Ah - interesting. My posture is not very good and being a weeble
doesn't help as the extra weight stressing the back.

I've also had the odd tingle and they're also nerve related. Having had
an MRI (which found some wear and tear in back and neck but nothing
serious) it basically is all muscular and all down to basically the way
I manage life - not very well :(
Oh dear. Life management is the root cause? - I'm clearly doomed.
That's a bit of an arse, hope its sorts out OK. Time to give up the
Werthers Originals then.
I'm sure he can find something else to suck on.
Arse, but life can carry on pretty normally for type 2 sufferers. My
mum, dad and brother are all type 2, I'm patiently waiting my turn.
Commiserations mate. Not nice.
Sign of age?
Low sugar beer. YKIMS.
