Top end rebuild questions

Hello All;

I have a 2001 KX250 and I was wondering how often I should be doing the
top-end. I bought the bike used last fall and have put perhaps 15 hours
on it since then. Mostly woods riding and not much hammering on the
throttle. I was planning on waiting until the end of the season [which
is about October around here]....so I may put another 15 hours on it
before then.

The bike runs awesome...starts first kick and has 175 psi compression
measured on a cold engine.

Also....with this KX, should I be honing the cylinder when I re-build
the top end? The book says no.....but I am looking for opinions.
I use to do the top on my KX250 every season since I was racing it, but I
went two seasons without even touching it and nobody can beat me to turn
one still... I run it 4 oz to a gal of mix...like 40 to one I think
That's 32:1
40:1 sounded WAY too metric.
Glad I could help.
