Worked on bike... photos!

Piper Performance called today to tell me my cylinder and parts
were ready. So me and the youngest (6) jumped in the van and made the
100-mile round trip to retrieve them.
Based on my 2 years experience living in your fair state.....every dang
place you need to go is a 100 mile round trip....that's why folks always run
120 on the freeways.

My cylinder head studs aren't due to arrive until tomorrow, so I
worked on what I could in the time being. Took lots of photos and
worked tonight on a webpage to showcase them.

For those who might be interested, the wrenching pictures are under
"CTD's Project Top-End" in the pull-down menu, and if you just want a
general idea of my work space check out "CTD's Workshop." Comments
welcomed.

Hopefully we'll have more ride photos to put on the site soon too!
Great pictures! I always wanted to put pictures of the mechanics
interventions on my bikes, but never did...

Well, I know I don't have such a great website and all and I know I
should not criticize of things I can't do better, but on yours, took a
few moments to realize that there was text under the pictures. I don't
know if it is because my monitor here @ work is a piece of junk with
almost 10 years of being turned on 24x7 or if it is because the
letters are too dark... Anyway, I had to mark them with the mouse, so
they turned white and I could read'em...
Hey, I really appreciate comments like these, Tiago! I know that
things look different on different monitors and it's nice to be aware
when something doesn't look right for others. I'll try to fix it
tonight. :-)

Fred,
What's the story on the Michigan license plates?
Jerry France
Clio, Michigan
Funny you should ask, Jerry. I acquired a couple of old Texas
plates from dad's barn several years ago and thought they made neat
decoration. So I put out the word (on an email list I belong to) that
I collected old license plates. Next thing I know my good buddy in
Grand Junction, Michigan (SW) sends me four or five old plates!

He collected custom diecast and I used to airbrush diecast so we
were always swapping stuff. He probably has over three dozen customs
that I did for him (among other stuff). He's a Christmas tree farmer
and he actually sent me some sapplings one time. Unfortunately they
were spruce and not pine, so they didn't fare well down here in Texas.

Btw, I collect old license plates if anyone has extras ;->
I only have several dozen. I got rid of lots of newer ones, kept the older
ones.
Lots of different states and a few from abroad.

I was going to dump most of them on ebay but they don't pull well.

The 1928 Mass plate hangs in my living room because if has a fish on it.

Keep updating the website, that's a great thing and easiest way to
show your trail pictures for those friends that live far far far away
from you... :-)

Fred,

Awesome progress.... you should have her back playing the ring-ding song
soon. Cool pics too BTW!

I like the shop and I'd say it looks like mine, but you actually have floor
space that is walkable. My shop currently looks like the aftermath of a
tornado, but will soon be put back in shape. I've got 7 young men in my
son's Boy Scout that want me to teach the Auto Mechanics Merit Badge which
requires hands-on training in all kinds of maintenance and repair items.
We've decided to use their/our bikes as guinea pigs and the *great shop
cleanout of '07* will just be another small part of their training regimen
The positive side to the current condition is that whenever I do
venture into the shop, I invariably find a *new* tool that I forgot I had!
