valve adj on a ex250

i lost my owners manual and i am getting clost to the milage that i
need to get my valves adjusted does anyone know that gap needed
It doesn't much matter that you lost your owner's manual.

Every motorcycle sold in the USA will have a little white tuneup
sticker under the seat, on the airbox lid, under the side cover, or on
the chain guard.

The valve clearances, idle rpm, etc. will be on that sticker.

Is this right? It certainly isn't true in Europe.

PStG is right.

It's a US federal requirement to have what's commonly called an 'emissions
label' under the hood of a car or somewhere on the bike. My ZG1000's
white label under the seat has the engine family code, the idle RPM,
octane requirement (91 RON), ignition timing, valve clearance, idle
mixture setting (not adjustable), and a few other things I can't recall.
Absolutely fascinating. We don't get any of that. Maybe fuel
requirement, not that I've ever seen it, but things like idle mixture
setting? Ignition timing? No way.

I wonder how much of this is so that The Authorities can easily tell (if
they wanted to) that you've been messing with the product?
Doubtful- usual practice would be to have a centralized database keyed
off the VIN that would be considered infallible, even if the inspector's
eyes told him there was an R4360 Wasp Major tucked in where the original
3 cylinder 1 liter lump used to be...
The first priority of a bureaucrat is to work for at least 20 years so
he/she will get a pension. This means that the bureaucrat will follow
all rules all the time, no matter how silly they are.

I was talking to a certain TV personality at Griffith Observatory
once. He was riding a rare classic British machine and he told me
about the hard time he had getting it registered.

When he took it down for inspection, the bureaucrat told him that the
engine and frame numbers were from a stolen Harley Davidson.

He told the inspector that the motorcycle was a rare Brough Superior.
The inspector looked at the list and declared that there was no such
motorcycle...
My wife could not show a birth certificate.
The bureaucrat told her she wasn't born.

The tire/wheel size and recommended inflation pressures are on a separate
(black) sticker, also under the seat.
Yeah, tyre pressure stickers seem to abound. And BMWs seem to have a
number of extraordinary warning or info stickers plastered in unlikely
places.

Oh, and Honda used to have "Preserve Nature. Think Safety. Always Wear A
Helmet" on their fuel tanks.

But it's still odd that you're asking for the valve clearance
information if you're going to have somebody else adjust your valves.

A mechanic in a motorcycle shop would know about the tune up sticker,
you wouldn't have to tell him anything.

Are you going to pay your buddy a six pack of beer to adjust your
valves, or what?

If you have an enthusiastic friend you wants to "help" you, buy a
repair manual.
For the EX250-F13 (1999 model):

Valve Clearance (Cold)
Intake: 0.08-0.13 mm 0.003-0.005"
Exhaust: 0.11-0.16 mm 0.004-0.006"
