Descending Spiral

Last night I stopped by Walmart and bought an one liter bottle of Shell
Helix 15w50 mineral engine oil. I had another bottle of this oil at
home.

Parked the bike, turned all lights on garage on (it almost turns the
garage in a photographic studio), removed the 12mm drain bolt and
collected the oil in a large plastic pan.

Then I grabbed the leash and went for a walk with Flor, my german
shepherd dog. Walking os good excercise...

Returned half hour later, put drain plug bolt back in, picked funnel
and put 1.5 liter of fresh oil in. Clutch behaves *much* better with
fresh oil. I use the used bottle to put the old oil in so I can carry
it to the recycling station. While draining the pan into the bottle, I
noticed that I have way more metallic shavings than when I changed oil
last time, but there was a worse alien on my oil.

Sand. Lots of it. How does the sand got into the oil? I will ride one
week or two and replace oil again, to check if there is still sand.

Otherwise, bike is great, doesn't smoke and except by some cam chain
rattle, doesn't make weird noises, gears are working fine and clutch is
perfect.

I'd have to guess its not sand, but perhaps clutch material?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
That's a good guess. Maybe you're right. Last time I checked, I still
had 0.1mm left on each clutch disk, it might be already
disintegrating...

Only way to get sand in would be to ride in the sand with the crankcase
breather disconnected, or to get someone really angry and they follow
you home and put sand in your engine!
It's not impossible. I had a fight over a parking spot at the college a
few weeks ago. The guy demanded money for a spot over the sidewalk! Of
course, I said a big no to him and I still park my bike on the same
spot every day. Screw them mafia boys.

I liked the clutch material floating idea better... :-)
