This is the type of bike at the type of price I like. I am always sceptical
of "simple repairs" though. If that simple I would think the seller would do
them and maximise the asking price. I do not know anything about this lump,
but I think there is a difference between a rattle from the top end and a
tappet noise. What else can cause a rattle, I am thinking cam chain,
knackered bores/pistons, camshaft.
Well, he does say "more of a tapping noise", so it could well be. And
maybe the seller doesn't know how to do the job and is afraid of a big
bill.

Those engines are incredibly strong, and given the low miles, I doubt
if it's been blown up.

It needs a couple of tyres: say =A3100. A decent CB250, '94 vintage, is
worth =A3500 all day long. Yes, I'd say it's a bargain. I'd take a
chance on it. In fact, as it's so close to me, I might do, so get your
skates on.
I did wonder why he'd felt the need to put a new clutch in it tho.
It is the only slightly weak spot in that lump, actually. I had to put
a new one in my CD250 (same lump) after I bought it, though it was
hardly expensive. And the donor bike I robbed for spares had a
slipping clutch too.

Sod it, I have put myself right off!!
