2000 Ultra Classic - clutch cable leak
|
I just put fresh fluids in the bike. Now I have found a leak in my
clutch cable.
It looks like it is coming out from underneath of a boot where the
upper and lower clutch cables join at the forward portion of the
motorcycle.
|
Any chance ya overfilled it?
That's the *only* way I can see a clutch cable leaking from way up there.
Maybe ya drained the tranny primary fluid and replaced the tranny fluid????
Don't laugh, I've seen it done. The scary part is, one of your cases may be
running bone dry while the other is running over full.
Did ya lube the cable maybe???

Pinched the tranny vent hose?

heh
He over lubed the lower cable, and left the upper one bone dry...but
just on the front portion!

Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. I lube my cables with Moble 1 and it will
seep out of that junction for a couple of days if I get a little
carried away with the amount I squirt down the cable.

Turn the bike upside down, and return it to the swamp from which you
found it.
After all, a bike with leaky cables from both the upper AND lower clutch
cable boots that are dripping fluids,(at the foward portion no less!) is
a sign that you attempted a repair!
Also, check for leaks in your battery cables.

Check the carb chain adjuster.
