Trivial pursuit question - History of SBK

I've been trying to find out when the major SBK championships introduced
1000-4s in the recent era.

WSB 2003
AMA 2003

I can't find when BSB and AAJR introduced them. Anyone? I think BSB was
at least a year earlier.
I don't *know*, but I think it was one year before.

Regarding new rules, there are moves in BSB to copy the Spanish Formula
Extreme. This is:-
- Stock chassis and swingarm
- Free rear shock
- Stock front suspension and brakes with internal mods
- Stock engine, gearbox and ECU but with a Power Commander or similar
- Free exhaust
- Slicks
- 1000-4s, 1200-2s

Could this work? It would certainly be a lot cheaper. If it was
widespread, my guess is that it would lead to highly adjustable chassis
and roadbikes with ECU that could be programmed for anti-wheelie,
anti-spin. It would have to be combined with a large homologation limit
to prevent short run race specials.
Heh, maybe this will be where all our SStock bikes end up next year...
