Hot Bike - Is It Normal ??
|
When I got in today from a 30 mile ride I noticed that the whole frame
of my CBR600FY was incredibly hot. Even now - an hour later - it's
still too hot to touch.
I've never noticed that before. It gets warm, but not scorching like
this. But then again - it's a hot day...
The temperature gauge through the ride (apart from the very beginning!)
was bang in the middle of the dial, so all appeared to be normal.
But I can't help thinking that something may be amiss. I'm *sure* the
whole frame - right down to the pegs - doesn't usually get hot like
that.
What do people think??

I don't recall it happening on my CBR600FX which is identical to the FY.
There again, I don't recall riding it in such high temperatures, even
during a summer trip to Slovenia.
If the latter part of the 30 miles was at modest speeds then the frame
would get hot as the fan belched hot air through the fairing. As long as
the coolant remained at the correct temperature there shouldn't be anything
to worry about IMO. It's not like the plastics are going to start melting
like on my mate's Gilera Nordwest...

I noticed that today. It probably has more to do with the fact that I
normally ride in knee length boots and armoured trousers but today I wore
|
*Knee* length? Are you sure?
|
just thin cotton ones and a pair of trainers.
You can feel the heat a lot more without the leather boots!
