OT : Bit of a bargain for those who have SD DigiCams.

Why is it?
18 quid? Nah, not even close. Over here in CH they're about a tenner.
What ! Sandisk Extreme III's ?? Cool !
Oh, I dunno. Summat by Sandisk, for sure. Is there really that much
difference?
Depends on the camera but it's often not worth it because the camera
reaches its read/write speed limit before the card and even then it
only matters if you're shooting enough frames quickly enough to
regularly fill the buffer. There's some really handy info here if you
have a dSLR:
I
If you're auto-bracketing & shooting bursts e.g. motorsport piccies, then I
found with cheapo slow cards; filling the cameras buffer was all to easy.
Yeah, I shoot motorsport too (though I don't auto bracket). I'm not
saying it's not sometimes worth it, just that it's not _always_ worth
it. Using the info in that link I decided there wasn't much point in
buying any better than Sandisk Ultra II (4Gb =A373.30 from
picstop.co.uk) because my camera wouldn't benefit much from the greater
speed offered, but then my camera isn't the very latest generation.
It *still* amazes me - the price of memory that is - compared to just a
couple of years ago !!
I know, it's pretty mental really. Technology eh?
Hell yeah, in burst mode with a digicam the high speed cards are essential,
plus the Extreme III's have a 10 year warranty.

Can you let us know the shop and I'll get my mate to bring a couple back to
me as I'm not Basel'ing this year.
Cool, I checked that shop price, and they do the 1GB EXIII for 47CHF and the
2GB EXIII for 55CHF, which = still more expensive than MyMemory before
adding any taxes.

Ta for the info anyhoos.

The 2gb card is 49.99

whereas at

a 4GB card is 43.95
Hmm.... bit of a difference between a no-brand (ora) 4gb anyspeed SD Card,
and a Sandisk Extreme III with a 10 year warranty etc etc.

Anyhoo....

Expansys's price for a SanDisk 1GB Extreme III 133x Compact Flash - £29.95

Expansys's price for a SanDisk 2GB Extreme III 133x Compact Flash - £54.95

Compare that to the MyMemory prices in the link above & I think you'll find
that in fact it is a bit of a bargain, especially the 1GB.
Has the SanDisk 1GB Extreme III 133x SD for £25.99 or CF for £29.49
and the SanDisk 2GB Extreme III 133x SD for £47.99 or CF for £45.99

I'd still go for the Dane-Elec 133x 1GB for £15.99 or 2GB for £27.99
or cheaper still

Be very careful buying Sandisk on Ebay, there are a lot of fakes about.
web-search will give you more info.
Ta, but I bought a 4 gb(270052345554) on the bay from a guy in the States
back in June

It works well.
The fakes do work. They're just not as fast as the OEM and won't have
their warranty honoured.
A lot of the time you'd get a far better deal on the Lexar 133x, and
there's not a market in faking them.
