ot: Google Earth Flight Simulator
"Did you know there's a flight simulator embedded within web-search Earth?
Along with the latest update comes a hidden feature which is not to be
found in the release notes.
So, what happens if you fly one into Borj-e Milad?
It can't be that hidden. It's in my 'tools' menu.
So it is here, just below "hammer" and above "pliers".
You have to install the latest version of web-search Earth, start it up
and hit Ctrl+Alt+A. If you're running OS X it's Command+Option+A. At
first it didn't work for me but when I pressed Ctrl+Windows key+A a
dialog popped up:
:(
'can't get it to work.
Crikey, he's right you know. I'll have to plug the joystick in and have
a play with that later.
The flight simulator comes with two aircraft options, a F16 Viper and
the SR22 propeller airplane. You have the option of commencing the
game from your current location in web-search Earth or you can pick from a
list of 27 pre-determined runways. Joystick support is available."
Humph. It works, at an update rate of about one frame every two
seconds.
Does it work with the 3D building simulations in New York? Do you get
feedback on it if you fly your aircraft into something?
