New chain too long?

Need some advise from those who know. Despite the rain I have put a
new chain and sprockets
on my zzr600 but with the new chain on, the rear wheel is adjusted to
50% of the available adjustment already.
Your bike has shrunk.

Is this right - I've checked the DID website and it is the correct
chain for the bike, just seems
strange that already I've lost 50% of the available adjustment before
it is even worn. The
sprockets are exactly the same as the old ones too.
Don't rivet it up yet, check it against the old one to see if it's the
same length first. If it's loger then take the appropriate amount of
links out.

Just about every chain supplied to me recently has been the wrong
length.
Including the GS???? ;-)
Conversely, both the last two road bike chains I've bought recently
were exactly right. Makes a change from shortening chains for the YZ.

I havent riveted the link yet just assembled and frankly I dont know
if the chain is too long.

Apologies for asking a question that I guess has been asked loads
before, web-search didnt
really turn up anything useful.
mine came with a new sticker ( actually 4 different stickers with
different languages )
I had to remove some links even though it was an OEM chain, it was
pretty obviously too long though.
