OT: Acoustic (Electro) Bass

I thoroughly enjoyed my festive present of a bass guitar lesson
yesterday. It helped that although the tutor was a young chap he clocked
my grizzled silver locks and quickly scribbled out a few suitable riffs
for me to try that I could 'relate to'.

'Whole lotta love', 'Sunshine of your love' and 'the Chain' to be exact.
Going back next week for another one and may sign up for a series.

Now the question. I really fancy an (electro) acoustic bass so that I
can plonk along at the back of folk sessions [1] 'unplugged'.

Heart says Takamine, wallet says Ibanez. Comments?
Ibanez Artcore.

it's what I'm buying.
As a bass they seem to be a 'vintage' style semi-hollow body. Not sure
if it will have enough go unplugged (probably not a bad thing at my
stage though).
depends on what you want it for.

Have you tried one?
Yes - not particularly loud, but plenty loud for practising without an
amp, and a lovely thumpy vintage sound when amplified.
That might be ideal to start with as my lessons are in with a couple
first time 6 string players. Don't want to 'blow them off' too much
[don't go there right] as 'sir' makes them play solid body electrics
unplugged. I could leave my own guitar at home and use one of theirs for
lessons I suppose,

They also do a full bodied job with built in tuner that appeals, but
most places say not in stock until February.
not see that one.
Pretty pikey:

A Takamine would probably be wasted on me TBH and SWMBO shows no
interest in playing bass so no real incentive to spend much.

[1] Which where we sometimes go often turn in to pretty rocky sessions
later on particularly after 'lock in'.
I seem to remember Sting playing an Ibanez... White IIRC... Had a 3
pot graphic Eq... Loadsa tones... Straight thru' neck (good for
sustain)... Could do worse... HTH...
