OT: Paging the Routeristi

I've currently got a home network of two hard wired PC's with the main PC
conected to a cable modem for the broadbamd connection and the second PC
going online via the first (1). Each PC has their own printer connected via
USB.

I've just bought a laptop with wireless connectivity (2) and want to know
what wireless router I need to but to be able to connect the cable modem,
two hard wired PC's, one wireless modem and one printer (3). I wan't to be
able to use any one machine without having to have relaince on another
machine being switched on as now.

Any views?

(1) ie first PC must be in for second to access the internet
(2) 802.11 b/g w/lan
(3) happy to lose one of the printers
Why not just get a wireless router - I bought a Netgear DG834GT
sometime ago which does all of the above without having to lose
anything. It's also very easy to set up.
Yeah, went with a Netgear rangemax WPN 824. Forgot to mention that I wasn't
starting from fresh as the original PC's were connected with NIC's and a
cable. All sorted and works great. Excellent wireless internet connection in
the garden on the laptop!

I can't figure out how to get the laptop to use the printers - remember they
are connected to each of the hard wire PC's by USB. I'd have thought every
router should have a printer port shirley?
Nah... you use a printer with an Ethernet port, or you find one of these
printer network adapters (USB on one side, Ethernet on the other).
I've got a four-port Belkin wireless router that would do the job (and allow
both printers to be used). I'm currently only using it to network the PC
upstairs to the Mac downstairs - the PC is hard-wired to the router via one
of the four ports, and the Mac is networked wirelessly. Haven't got a
networked printer, but could set one up on it if I wanted.

Normal setup is phone line to modem to router (or router with built-in
modem), and the router does the job of logging-on to your ISP, so it
shouldn't matter which PCs are turned on. You'll need a wireless NiC for
each PC that's wirelessly networked, but if your two desktops are in the
same room, you might as well hard-wire them to the router and save yourself
twenty quid.

You may need to ditch your existing modem if it's a USB jobby - I'd suggest
getting a router with built-in modem if that's the case.
If you do go down the wireless router route, Netgear, not Belkin.
Linksys or Dlink, not Netgear.

Netgear does it for me. As recommended by Ginge and Bear.
*Shtop*!

I thought you had a jbex supplied zyxel?
