double sprockets

Is it possible to install two sprockets onto the rear wheel of a
motorcycle?

something like the multiple sprockets on a bicycle?
Why not just use a double or triple row chain or, even better, a pre-
stretched Hy-Vo chain that will never need adjustment to handle the massive
torque of your car-engined motorcycle?
Hy-Vo chains need adjustment like any other chain.

The Hy-Vo chain should run in a chain case full of gear lube though.
I've seen pictures of it done, I think on a dirt bike, to allow for
rapid gearing changes on an ISDT or something. Only two sprockets,
mind, rather than a full derailleur system.
Pretty sure I've seen a dual rear sprocket setup on a Vincent.
That's what I must have been thinking of. You could hardly mount two
sprockets side-by--side as the chain run would be out of line on one
(or both....)
How about a variable ratio sprocket?
Some Vincent motorcycles had a sprocket on each side of the rear wheel for
gearing changes. The rider could put the Vincent on it's bicycle-style
centerstand and flip the rear wheel over to quickly change the final drive
ratio.
