cbr600f2 clunks when moving from a stop

Hey, all...

My '93 cbr600f2 makes a clunking sound, on the chain side of the bike,
when I start moving from a stop. The clunk is followed, sometimes, by a
second, lesser clunk.

This clunk just started two days ago, and depends sometimes on the
amount of acceleration and clutch release. It doesn't seem to be
getting worse, but it did just start "all of a sudden."

Any thoughts?
Cush drive, wheel bearings, steering head bearings, countershaft
bearings, gear dogs, or maybe sticky calipers.
How old are your chain and sprockets? How many miles? It very easily could
be the sound of a stiff chain roller dropping into place as it's forced to
bend around the sprocket.

The way to tell is to move the chain around the sprocket by hand. Engine
off, bike in neutral, rear wheel off the ground: slowly rotate the rear tire
by hand in the same direction it turns when the bike is moving forward, and
watch how the chain behaves. Does it smoothly curve around the sprockets? If
not, that could be the noise you're hearing: that chain roller seating under
tension.

Chain and sprocket replacement is pretty easy and only needs to be done
every 25k miles or so, assuming you use quality o-ring chain and steel
sprockets.
I am amazed with the chain on my Bike.

The only time I've needed to adjust it this whole year is when I
removed the rear wheel for a new tire...
How many miles do you have on it? I had to replace my original chain around
25k miles on the R1. The previous R1, same thing. Right around 25k miles. I
still have another year or two before I'll hit 50k, unless I win the lottery
and can take a few months off. :)
Ummm..good question...

Lemme go walk down to the garage real quick to check =)

ok...discovered 2 things:

1 - It is TOO FRIGGIN COLD OUTSIDE""

2 - 18,499km on the bike so that means 11,494 miles.

Looks like I still got a way to go =)
