I'll miss 'em. I've never had a meal I binned from them and I love their
breakkies.
|
|
Hmm - glad to see they're potentially saving some of the jobs.
On the other hand, I was rather hoping it would fail so as to start the
backlash against the 'purchase-and-asset-strip' private equity
approach.
|
I think the stuff about saving jobs is just good PR at the moment. The
assets of the company have to be worth a fair bit - there's probably
more mileage to be had from selling off all the decent sites to rival
operations than there is from saving the company.

And that chain never recovered from the immortal Ben Elton question: "If
the food there is so good, why's the man on the sign sticking a finger
down his throat?"
|
They used to have a sign over the door to the bogs with that face. A
sign saying toilets and a bloke pointing into his mouth. More than
explained the food.
|
|
Doubt it was his 'joke'. It was referred to as "Happy Chucker" for ages
before Ben Elton made it to the provinces.

They never recovered after the BOTAFOT relocated to the ER.
