Sounds

I'm not sure after how many KM's it was when I got here, but at a little
over 7500 I think I've reached the point where Earl is starting to talk to
me, provided I'm willing to listen, or more likely, she's been talking to me
the whole time and I'm starting to understand what's being said.

Was riding home today, and got off at the proper off ramp. The bike was
running well but sounded a little different. By the time I got home,
another mile or so, the bike still seemed to be running ok but there was a
distinctly differnt sound coming from the left side. My first reaction was
to reach down to the left carb, where I was going to push on the lever to
open the carb to se eif it would rev up. That's about as far as I got when
I saw that the hose between the air filter and the carb was gone. If I ran
for any amount of time like that I suspect I would have burnt a hole in the
carb.
Probably wouldn't have done much other than pull dirt into the carb and
cylinder. A little early wear...
I would agree with this on the Triumph, only because I rarely have a filter
on there , but I've read of another Ural rider that lost his without
knowing it and it caused that cylinder to run really lean during the rest of
the day and it ended up burning a hole in the piston. I *think* that this
is a picture of that event, but I could be wrong:
Hadn't thought about that, but you're right, it could cause it.

I took off my gear and headed out in the minivan and on the corner at the
end of the street, sitting right into the middle of the road, was the hose.
When I left the house I was expecting to travel all the way back to work and
back, fortunately that wasn't the case.

Grabbed the screw driver off the wall and popped it back on, taking a little
more time to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. I had it off yesterday in
the parking lot at work when I suspected the air filter was wet. Obviously
I didn't take enough care make sure it was secure, hopefully it will stay
put this time.

Drinks on me (there goes my $0.80).
Glad you found it before someone's wheel did. About that $0.80. I wish
more establishments would honor that ideal. Biker discounts make way
too much sense to just be practiced by the local Arby's. I mean toll
roads should let bikes ride free. Parking for bikes should always be
free. Should be a 50% discount for gas pumped into bikes, etc. etc.
How better to reduce the consumption of petrol than to make it
irresistable to ride two wheels.
Isn't it already that way?
