Carb problems - maybe???

Just been spending the last few days screwing my DR back together and i has
an odd problem.

When I first connected the fuel tank and turned the tap on loads of fuel
poured out of the over flow inlet until I gave the carb a tap.

Now it doesn't do that, but when I start the bike it only runs for maybe a
minute and then stops, and wont restart for another 15 mins or so, and then
does the same thing.

I'm guessing the carb may have something stuck, maybe fuel is filling it up
very slowly, it runs until the carb is empty and then won't run until
Or it's runnig very, very rich. Look at the plug.

Stuck float needle.

refilled.

Its worth mentioning at this point the carb was dry for maybe 5 months.
Sounds like the needle valve operated by the float is sticking, or the float
itself.
