Rear View Helmet
While reading FHM (Maxim "light") I ran across this new helmet design,
currently only available in Europe. Seems like a kewl idea, wouldn't mind
trying one on to see how it works:
Seemed cool. Or at least the photos of it in "action" did (kinda). But
this guy claims the helmet has to positioned at a specific angle in
order for the optical system to work:
I do wonder about having all that glass--assuming it's glass--above my
head. With my luck I'd trip getting off the bike, land on my head, and
end up having to change my name to Glassman.
Hmmmmmmmm, makes me wonder how you got your PRESENT name........
I read the info.....no glass in the helmet. It's done with some kinda
reflective polycarbonate.....
I want one! How much are they?
Yeah, how much?
I can already see a problem. If you want to see what's behind you
and to the left, and instinctly turn your head to the left, you'll actually
be increasing your view to the right. That could be disconcerting.
Think about it.
I'm not so sure, Roach. When I look up at the rear view mirror in my
car, I just look straight at it and subconsciously orient myself. Why
wouldn't you do the same wih this? I wish they had some sort of visual
on the website that gave an idea of what reflected image looked like.

Unless, it has flashing red lights.
The reviews are mixed, but even if it's sitting in your peripheral view at a
stop light, more so than the side mirrors, it might help grab your attention
if some yahoo is barreling up behind you.
