ZX7R H2 filter question

I picked up a ZX7R (1992) last weekend , loads of fun.
On the lefthand side just above the alternator are what appears to be
the remains of a fuel filter. Most of the outer casing is all that
remains, no soft fleshy innards or anything, the casing has "UP" written
on it and an arrow. Is this meant to be a fuel filter ? The reason I
have top ask it I have no idea where the pipe goes to at the top end but
the bottom pipe is just blanked off. It seems a bit weird
It's the catch tank for the air box drain.
Could be a engine breather vapour/oil trap.
Thanks for all the quick replies !
I went out to get a replacement but couldn't get one today so I just
stuck a petrol filter in there. As it's the airbox drain it should be ok
Thanks again
Jim
I think what you can see is the filter for the carb heater system. To
attempt to deal with carb icing, the kawasakis of that era run a
circuit off the cooling system to run hot water through the bodies of
the carbs. I don't know why, but they included a filter in the
circuit.
No, that's on the right hand side of the engine in front of the carbs.

This is definitely the airbox drain trap bottle thing.

The 'real' fuel filter is located under the LHS side panel. You
should be able to find it by tracing the route from the fuel pump,
which sits under the battery box.
