Simple gas flow problem



I have KZ400 and when I would try to start it up it would just dump

That's exactly what it is designed to do. It may take several minutes.
Rocking the bike from side to side gently might help speed up the process.
If you mean that the float bowl isn't filling up, the float valve is stuck
closed. Or you installed the float upside down.

Turn the pet cock to the RES position and wait a few minutes for the alcohol
in the gasoline to dissolve the gum and varnish sticking the float valve shut.
If that doesn't free the float valve, blow air down the fuel hose.

Tap on the side of the carburetor with the handle of a screwdriver to vibrate
the float valve loose.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to remove the carbs and manually free the
float valve.

(1) If the engine won't start once you have gasoline in the float bowls,
don't open the throttle, leave it alone. Most modern motorcycle carburetors
don't have a separate choke plate, the throttle butterfly has to be closed to
start the engine.

There is a little valve in the side of each carburetor. When you pull the
choke knob, you are actually opening the little valve to let the engine suck
gasoline out of the float bowls.

But the throttle butterfly has to be closed for the system to work.
