OT: DivX encoder software

Anyone have any opinions on which of the various DIVX encoders is best?
O/S options are Vista, XP or Redhat9 (although I think I need to blow
this install away and install a different linux flavour but that's a
different discussion).

The Vista box is the quickest so that would be preferrable.
Dr. Divx OSS works for me on XP.
OK, ta, I'll give it a look

I've just added Avidemux on the Ubuntu box but haven't tried it yet.

As for linux flavours, I find Ubuntu + EasyUbuntu = Bliss.
Cos divx can convert 6 DVDs into one dvd of very watchable avi's. If
you intend to upload/download stuff that doesnt need to be 100%
quality (only 90%) then divx/xvid is fantastic.
Each to his own. I've dropped Ubuntu from all my boxes and I
don't even mention it in my teaching any more. The OS is ~ok~,
but the cult of Ubuntianity is just a little too freaky for my
liking. I made the error of trying to get involved, help out,
'give back', etc. Big mistake. They're nasty freaks (at all
levels, locally and internationally), and there's not one bit
of actual 'ubuntu' in there anywhere. Hypocrisy run wild.
I prefer a literal one
and for sorting things
AutoGK is verrrry automatic and quite powerful.. works very well
indeed. and its free.
