Having now discovered that my GF doesn't mind being OTB, I'm thinking
of getting summat a little bit better suited for cruising. My old
veefer is pretty good and I don't want to go the Goldwing route (yet).
I've never really liked carrying a pillion that much but I could get
used to it.
I saw this
&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 and wondered what the general
thoughts might be.
I find that I now like the look of this bike, tho' I remember when it
came out I thought it was big'n'ugly.
This seller has low feedback, and doesn't say anything about the engine
which is a bit of a concern. So I'm not sure I will bid on this
particular one.
Are there any common faults that I should look out for (I'm guessing it
should be fairly easy to spot an ex-plod/RAC/paramedic one)? Anyone got
one - likes/dislikes?
Can anyone tell me what a good price to pay would be?

That's a very good low price for a Pan, even if it's an early one.
Mileage is good, too.
But I *always* get suspicious when I see bike shops unloading bikes as
"trade sales" with no warranty. In my experience, it invariably means
there's a nasty (read: expensive) surprise lurking somewhere.
if the bike's that good, then why isn't on the showroom floor with a
warranty?

Yes I had the same concerns. I did get a reply from him saying the
engine is fine.
I'm not sure it's possible to avoid things like the sale of goods act
etc. by hiding behind weasel words and ebay (it is obviously not a
private sale) - it would take some time but if it's a complete dog I
think there could be some recourse.
Don't think I will risk though.

Also, 12 previous owners. And as you say, no mention of the state the
engine's in. I'd avoid.
