Oh, S-h-i-t ...

... that is going to cost me a packet.
Isn't it amusing that this news falls on the day we are having this
debate

on alt.atheism
What a disappointment. The posters are just as deranged as the
religious loons they oppose.
In what way?
As with most groups with an American content many threads are
cluttered with huge sections of copied text to back up a half arsed,
poorly thought out point of view which quickly degenerates into a
flame war / mong fight.
Alt.Atheism has slightly different conventions on post trimming etc
than UKRM, and threads often start with a piece of copied text and an
invitation to discuss, and there certainly isn' a flame war going on
in that thread, just a random waddle through the content, with plenty
of OT stuff.
I'd comment, but Bulls^H^H^raden wouldn't be best pleased..

Our ADSL modem is next to the bed but from my side (with my disastrous
eyesight), it may as well be switched off. So I use my mobile phone as a
clock, but since I can't switch it on or off or use it make calls during
Chabbat, I just leave it on.

Today, my traditional Chabbat snooze after too much food and wine at
midday, saw me awaken at three pm, and the phone was under my body on the
bed, and its screen was switched on.

Much later, we get up, coffee etc and I take a look in the SMS section of
the phone. Imagine my surprise when I see ... fifty-three (count 'em..)
empty SMSs sent to my landlord (whose surname starts with 'A' and is thus
the first entry in the 'phonebook') between two and three pm.

At 30 centimes a pop, that's going to hurt a bit more this month. :(
16 euros is hardly the bill of a lifetime.
It can be for some who continually look for any excuse to harp on about
their religious persuasion
I was recounting an anecdote, why the hostility?

Ah. I see.
I've done something similar, but the recipient called me after text nine to
ask what I wanted!
They're now starting to do just that. Mate in Scotland apparently got two
empty textos. 'I figured you'd hit the wrong button'.
