Anyone got a phone going cheap? Oh, and a car?

Yes, I've decided it's time to join in - I want a mobile phone. Cheap
and cheerful, PAYG, reliable, easy to use, with a camera (but it
doesn't have to be a good one). Anyone got a fairly decent one going
cheap?
Laura's old Toshiba TS10[1] is now surplus to requirements. Not a
leading-edge all-time classic, but it's kinda quirky, pleasant to use and
free. I think it's locked to Vodafone, and the glass over the camera lens
is cracked (although this doesn't show up on photographs).
Cool - free you say? Is it PAYG? I could pick it up next time we meet
up.
The SIM is now in Laura's new phone - all you need to do is get a new PAYG
SIM from your preferred provider.
Ah, now see, there's a problem. I'm not disciplined at all when it
comes to money - having read further down the thread, I'm sure I'd
miss the dates. I'm the one who missed out on the Tesco Clubcard
offers by missing dates.
I'm possibly about to offload my old Nokia 6230 (vodafone). It does just
about everything but it's a few years old so isn't as all-singing
all-dancing as current models. Going rate on ebay seems to be 30-50
quid, I'll take 25.
Maybe - is it a PAYG? (I know nuffink about phones.)
Should also note, the only thing you need to make it PAYG is a sim that
you can order gratis from

Failing that, I've got a Nokia 3200 (Vodafone-badged cover, but
allegedly unlocked) of unknown parentage which you can take off my hands
for free. It's got a camera but not much else and it's worth buttons.
Not too sure - even if it is unlocked, is it PAYG? Is it reliable? You
don't know, hmm, probably not that one.

Both Maidenhead.
I've got a 6230 that you can't have because I really like it. :-)
This is a recommendation ukrm style (for those in the shedde)
Not too far then. Also thinking about Platy's Laura's one...

And my friend wants a cheap, reliable little car - anyone outing one?
Orange's wibble often have cheap phobiles, but not usually with a
camera. That said, my current phobile has a camera (not brilliant, but
it does have one) and cost around £40 from one of Orange's retail
outlets. You'll probably find that other netjbexf have retail shops
TAAW, and of course wibbles. They might also have similar offers.
I'm outing an old Nissan Micra, taxed to end October, Mot to mid
November.

Reading area.
What the lady needs is one of these:
Raises the question, 'when is a phone not a phone'? It seems to do
everything, but I'll bet it's not cheap. Neither, I suspect, does it
make toast.
No it doesn't, although mine gets hot enough to keep a drink warm if
you're using lots of the functions.

Fine phone, apart from some software bugs that are being ironed out.

And it was a free upgrade 'cos I use it lots and the contract allowed
it.
Now you either appear to be recommending an account on Youtube or a 400
quid phone. Neither of which meets the posted requirement.
That link isn't recommending an account on youtube, it's a URL to a
commercial.
Yes. A commercial for a 400 quid phone. What *is* your point?
Gaining your attention, I guess. Keep up the good work.
The long summer evenings in Folkestone must just fly by.
I don't live in Folkestone.

I've had mine for over a month now and I can confidently say it's
going very high up on my list of 'best phones I've ever owned'
Moneysaving expert had a few good offers recently
SWMBO got a PAYG phone from Orange for a tenner a couple of months
back. An Alcatel, I think. She had to buy a tenner's worth of credit
Whenever I upgrade my orange phone, they send me a free PAYG SIM and I
re-register my old phone with it and pass it to parents. Check if you
have any friends who're flashing round their fancy new phone and slip
'em a few drinks for their old one ...

then stick a sim in it.

too.
I've got one of those but it didn't have a camera. It's not bad though but I
have my doubts as to its longevity.
She's only wanted to make calls and text. Pretty much all I do with a
V3 so I might as well get one myself.
Check. About 15 miles away.
Coo - I'll let my friend know about that one. How much? How old? What
mileage?
