OT: Outlook Express help please
|
Not me, for someone I'm trying to help.
Need to use Outlook Express for email. Have set up a gmail account,
configured the pop settings accordingly.
Can receive (g)mail into OE no problem.
Can reply to mails received, no problem.
Compose and write a new mail no problem - but will not send. Instant
error message saying something (in Dutch) about no account is configured.
|
It's been a while since I've used OE but I'll have a go.
My best guess is that there is some conflict with antivirus software. Try
disabling and then enabling incoming/outgoing email protection, if there is
any.
Other than that, go into the email accounts and check which account is the
default.
|
Huh?
Anyone got any ideas?
|
When you click "reply to" OE will use the same address to which the
original message was sent to.
When you click "new message" OE uses the default email address.
I suspect that the gmail account is not set as the default address for a
new message.
|
Bingo. There was only one account, but, it wasn't set as default. Thanks!

Is it set to 'disconnect' immediately after send/receive? Errrr.....
"Tools" "Options" "Connection"
Sounds like it to me, with my limited knowledge of owt computerish since
1995....

I didn't realise "F5/refresh headers" was such a recent concept :P
