OT: Creating an autorun CD & menu
|
Hey ho, me dearie-o's.
I have to put together some files and I'd quite like to have them as an
autorun CD, with a relatively simple menu screen etc.
|
I'm not sure what you're asking for is possible.
An auto-starting CD is pretty simple, but the rest is in the DVD menu
creation world, which is not that simple to do nor can I think of
anything other than an actual DVD you could do it with.
Hmm, you could perhaps do it in Flash but I don't think there's anything
free or that cheap that could do it.
|
Ahh, see, if I knew what I were talking about, it'd help. Ta.
OK, so it's DVD creator stuff I need but then just output onto CD then?
|
Sorry, what I meant was you're describing what I'd do when creating a
DVD. Unfortunately, that creation can't then be exported to a CD rather
than a DVD disc.
Er ... I don't think.
Interesting idea - create the same files you'd use for a DVD and burn it
to a CD instead and see if a PC can play it...
I'll try that tomorrow, although I can see getting the file size down
(just of the menu) so that it would fit on a CD could be tricky.

I ended up with a fairly neat little program called Camtasia Studio 4,
which while not perfect does a pretty good job for what I needed.
Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.

Forget a DVD menu, if it's going to be used exclusively on PC's how
about just autolaunching a simple HTML page, with links to all the
files. Can't get much more simple, and free, than that.
All the info you should need is here.

What s/w do you recommend to do this? I've had a quick web-search but don't

Don't?
Unless it's for real numpties, in which case, SWK might be along soon.

Get a code monkey, it's the only true way.
