Hi all and Should I buy or not?

First of all hi everyone, nice to see a load of the same people on here as
there were a couple of years ago. (I used to spend hours on here a couple
of years back until my girlfriend got sick of me ignoring her every night)
I used to ride a Honda h100 (well still do) but I passed my das 2 weeks ago
and am on the look out for a dirt cheap 'proper' bike. I have total max of
£500 to spend, preferably £400 as I'm gonna be paying back the test fees
for the next 3 years!
As you can probably tell I'm not having much luck with that amount. I
brought a GPZ600 for £300 from eBay last week, but it all fell through when
it failed the MOT he said it would sail through.
Anyway I've seen another GPZ600 (B reg) for £400 it's listed as 'EXCELLENT
RUNNER BUT POOR COLD STARTER' Should I buy it not? (I can't think sensibly
as I can't wait to ride a proper bike!)
If the bikes a cold starter, what's the most likely thing to cause it?
Plugs? Piston rings? (apparently it's had a new starting cellenoid)
It also says it needs a new battery. Could this be a sign that the charging
circuits going/gone?
Sorry for all the questions, but I remember how helpful some of you guys
can be, and hopefully your experience can save me bucks!
