need a bit of a pointer as a general search on the web for "Electric
Toothbrush" brings up many options which start at £4.99 and climb to
over £100.
Does anyone have any reccommendations? I'd like a rechargable unit

Philips Sonicare - accept no substitutes. Argos do an 'entry level'
version for around 70 quid.

AOL on that - it's the only one my dentist thinks makes any difference.

Are you aware of how much free stuff the dentists get from these
companies? A dentist's recommendation is worth the inverse of how much
he's being paid togive it.

Your dentist will, give them a ring and ask what ones they sell.

that is going to last a while (So I don't mind paying for the quality)

Another also... when they say "charge it for n hours before use", they
mean it. If you get the urge to try it at n-4 hours, it might never
hold a full charge. But I'm sure you knew that.

and any replacement parts (like the head) are easily obtainable.

Braun. Have used one for donkey's years without a problem. The
replaceable heads are very expensive though.

Ditto the comments, however we buy the 8 packs from Amazon for £15 delivered
Quite reasonable I thought.

Braun are excellent and now do a sonic one, which I have and it's
superb. got it off ebay for =A340ish
