What I did today...

Welcome to the shiny side.
I've slightly overrun on fleet refresh, it must be said. And I haven't even
got a suitable mule for the Binliner yet.

Has the stator been replaced yet? Engine out job, unfortunately and
most of them eventually need it.
In any case, you'll want to remove the circled connector and splice the
stator directly into the wiring loom:
And it wouldn't be a bad idea to move the Kelvin connection (voltage sense
wire) of the voltage regulator from the switched side of the ignition
switch to the battery positive post, unless you fancy replacing the
battery frequently due to overcharging. Too much voltage drop across
multitudinous connections results in the regulator seeing the voltage
it wants after the switch, which of course means at the reg output it's
too high-- unless all the connections are clean and shiny bright and
springy which of course they won't be after 20 years.
This advice coming from an ex-1986-GL1200A owner.
Really? I thought all I'd have to do was ponce it up with fairy lights,
chrome towel rails and stick-on plastic eagles. You mean the famous Honda
reliability is a myth?
Enjoy, they are really fun bikes when sorted and will do their owner
proud in the cornering department, despite what you'd expect.
I followed one, once, in the car, up the M5 for a few miles. He wasn't
sitting about...
oh you poor fool. A bad case of WUN Envy I expect
Blimey. That was a bargain.
If it doesn't work out, it can go back on obey with tax, MOT, decent pics
and description. I don't think I'd have too much trouble getting my money
back.
Plus a bit, I'd have thought.
I really ought to ride it before I cash in.
That reminds me: the Morini is currently at =A3760 (or =A312 less than I
paid for it) with five hours yet to run. I am cautiously hopeful of it
making =A3800. Even a grand is possible.
Looks like threre's enough left over for a decent(ish) bottle of the red
stuff!
Eh? Oh, hang on...
Ah, nice one. A devastatingly quick cross-country gin palace if ever I
saw one.
Eventually!
Well done.
Oh, er, um ... cihagm?
Sure. But I don't want you to be too upset if it's faster and nippier than
yours...
I won't be - I'd expect it to be both.
I take it this is the intended ChimayWagen?
Touch and go. The cheque needs to clear, I need to pick it up and get MOT
and tax sorted. ATM I reckon probably not.
Why not go with cash or a bank draft and take it away
I'm exploring that possibility.
Hope so. Think of the capacity for Saturday's beer run.
When are you collecting it? Can I come to laugh?
Dunno. When the cheque clears.
I was trying to recognise the company name in the photos but they are too
poor quality. Not that Ross has a history of motor trade shysters, like....
Looking at the stuff they've sold previously, they don't seem to specialise
in dodgy behemoths.
