Westminster Council to charge for bike spaces
|
|
YMMV, as they say. Dave is normally carrying assorted heavy things -
and he does walk it quite often, although it means his journey to work can
be an hour and a half or more. Which is daft, given the total distance. If
it was a matter of walking a mile or so to get to work, it would be fine:
but it's walk to bus stop. Wait for bus. Get bus to Tube. Change twice on
Tube. So, it is very time consuming.
I can't walk it, but don't have to, as I drive to work on those days I go
to an office. I'll rephrase that. If it was on the flat, and I did not have
to carry an absurdly heavy laptop and a briefcase, I could probably do it,
depending on how bad my walking was on the day. (Arthritic degeneration of
the L5 disc in my spine.)

According to London Tonight, Westminster Council will soon charge about
£1.50 for using one of their bike spaces. They will use the money to provide
somewhere to lock your bike to and provide more spaces You can buy an annual
pass for £100.

It's only some southerners. WGAF?
|
Like the CG? That hasn't happened yet either. They tried charging on

I'm a local. I will always use the M6 Toll in preference to the M6 if
I'm going north of Birmingham at any time near the rush hour. In
practice this means from 7am-10am and 3pm-7pm.
It'll always save at least an hour during those times.
|
I'm local too. I've never used the toll road, I use the M6/M5 during
rush hour.
|
|
the M6 toll road and what happened? It's only used by tourists and the
mildly curious.
|
I have used it twice in the last year when the M6 was literally closed
near Spaghetti Junction.
|
Twice out of how many opportunities?
|
|
|
What evidence do you intend using to back up that idea? I haven't used
|
None whatsoever. It's an opinion.

the old route since the toll road opened nor has Adie and we both
travel up to the NW regularly.
If tolls keep people from using it to take the kids to school then
it's a good thing because it makes my commute a lot easier.

And me! I love the toll road. It's knocked over an hour off some of my
journeys. It's also fun to drive.
