which bike to buy?

I am a guy who used to ride the mountains and deserts of Southern
California back in the 60s/70s.
I got on a little Yamaha TT-125 recently and was amazed how much bikes
have improved.

My question is how difficult is it to ride the ATV (quad) trails on a
little bike like that? would a motorcycle make it through the ATV
trails set up in the national forests out west?
I haver never seen much of the atv trails but from what I have seen a
little enduro would have no problem except for sand and gravel maybe.
Never been out west but in the east, the ATVs make 2 deep ruts and
when the trail gets narrow
you have to swap from rut to rut to prevent the brush/trees from
ripping the bars from your hands.

To go from rut to rut, higher ground clearance and standing would make
that task easier. My
Daughter won't take her XR100 on those trails.

Kwads suck!

What do you say?
Is that what you've already convinced yourself you want? You're
talking about a 9HP bike. Fine for a smaller person to learn the
basics on or to play on, but not for doing anything remotely serious
with.
