Recommendations for "rainproof" oversuit?

Whats the perceived wisdom then for half decent waterproofs?
Or not.
Whatever Lozzo advises.
Yeabut how reliable's that? After all, I dont know what the result of his
brain scan actually was in the end? :-)
I think they found one.
The one I was wearing at Mallory Park was a 40 quid Hein Gericke one. I
got home dry as a bone after 150 miles of torrential rain, Tori was
soaked to the skin because her Dainese kit leaked like a sieve.

There are some Akito Hurricane suits out there at decent money, they are
very similar in construction and fit to the HG one I have. I'm told by
one of my ex-colleagues that they work just as well, though I haven't
yet tried the one I have sitting on top of my wardrobe for myself.

The Akito one folds down into it's own built in bumbag, the HG doesn't
have the bumbag facility, just a drawstring bag that will fit under the
seat of a Gixer easily. I got the Akito one because the Daytona doesn't
have room under the seat for a hamster to lay flat in, let alone a rain
suit.

Im aware that its nigh on impossible to have complete waterproofing without
then sweating like a pig and getting wet inside anyway, but want something
easily packed and with decent water resistancy IYSWIM?

Im also thinking that an all in one is better than a two piece, but im happy
to be put right on that if people have views on the merits of one over the
other?

From what ive seen on other threads and google HG and Spada seem best?
I've got a HG one-piece that works perfectly. Gets a bit sweaty inside,
but if you want to avoid that you're looking at expensive goretex kit,
I have the same. I have a waterproof jacket which I wear in bad
Or Fernet Branca; take it from me, ditto.

Here's something I learned this week, just because you enjoyed a book
with the name of a drink in the title it doesn't follow you will enjoy
the drink. Fernet Branca is horrid stuff; all the subtlety of cheap
grappa with an additional bitter taste. It certainly woke my son up
this morning though.

weather, but the oversuit can be stuffed under the seat. Comes in handy
when it rains unexpectedly.

not oversuits.

Think it was about 40 quid, well recommended.
Cheers both, thats exactly the kinda thing im looking for. Ill wait and see
though if there are other recommendations etc rather than jump straight in
Though there seem to be a few on fleabay hmmmmmmm

:-)
I'll second the HG PVC stuff. I use a 2 piece variety.
You can get pretty good throwaway stuff in Millets too.
I've got a Spada one, and it's been fantastic for the last 2 years.
I've used two-piece oversuits for several years, since it's difficult to
find a one-piece that's big enough. (Length, rather than waist.) I've
never had a problem with them leaking.
For a lot of years, I've used a textile waterproof jacket and leather
trizers, with waterproof trizers tucked away somewhere handy in case of
actual precipitation. No leaks, no bother.

Currently got an HG jacket - a bit heavier than most of the oversuits -
and some waterproof trousers the origin of which I forget, except they're
not specifically bike gear.

In the past, I had a Belstaff suit which was good.

The recent product tests I've read seem to suggest that most of the suits
are fairly waterproof these days: just get a reputable brand.

I did try a one-piece suit a couple of years ago from some UK company,
which did really big sizes, but that leaked quite badly. I can't remember
who it was, though: somewhere up in the east-midlands that does leathers,
too.
I've got an old daylo yellow HG suit i bought in 2000 and it's always kept
the rain out. I was looking for a replacement this year and decided the
Spada one was better but never got round to getting one.
