OT: anyone got a Jetski?
|
As subject
Never tried it but living a next to the solent,
it's on my priority list.
sssoooo....it's gotta be like a riding a bike but in water?
or not?
|
Depends if you mean a real jet-ski
isn't like riding a bike at all, or one of the many other PWCs around,
e.g.
which are, a little bit, like riding a bike. But they're also very
different, as they tend to bank _away_ from the turn, not into it, so
you're constantly fighting to keep them upright by leaning the other
way.
The real ones are great fun and much more of a challenge to ride, but
can do some serious stunting, like submarining and leaping up into the
air, which are simply not possible on the jet bikes.

would the foak care to inform, flame, etc?

Depends what you mean by 'jetski' - I've had both types, comments as
follows:
Sit-on type - easy to use, great fun if it's choppy, can take a passenger &
has some storage, so easy an 8 year old could drive them, heavy-ish on fuel
(Sea-doo being the worst both on fuel & reliability), take up too much room
in the garage.
Stand-up's - better fun, not everyone can get the hang of it (so if you're a
poser it gets more attention!), cheaper to run, much smaller & can be lifted
off the trailer quite easily for storage), can't take a passenger and very
minimum of storage.
Both obviously have pluses & minuses, so buy & enjoy whichever suits what
you want to do with it - but the one overbiding comment I would make is it's
not a 'loner' sport - either pal up with others who have 'skis or take a
couple of pals with you - or you simply won't use it after the novelty wears
off!
I've had at least 4 sit-on's & 2 stand-up's in my time - fortunately also
had pals who were into it as well.

Huge fun, but it's the sort of thing you'll buy and use once a year,
even living next to the Solent.
