FOAK: PMP/MP3 players.

Dear FontOfAllKnowledge
Anyone got any recommendations for the best 60GB + PMP/MP3 player
around at the moment .
Not really fussed about movie playback. Mainly to play Mp3s
There's the obvious iPod 80GB but I have this irrational dislike of the
iPod for some reason. But they do have lots of natty little gadgets
made for them.
What are the Zen and Cowon offerings like? Anyone got them?

iPod! Funny.
Just about every other MP3 player available is better quality and cheaper.

And let's not forget, the others don't make you use iTunes

Trying to dump files onto an iPod without it a slightly hair-raising
experience. It can be done but not as easily as iTunes makes it.

Take a look at Media Monkey, Anapaod and I am sure many other pieces of
software which are not in the least hair-raising to use with an iPod.

They've built the functionality into winamp now, so it should be fine
for the masses.

Eh? Whats hard about doing it in iTunes anyway?

Which (if you actually read the thread) was what it was about - someone
didn't want to use iTunes and I commented that the other bits of
software to do the same task were not as easy to use as iTunes..

File > Import Folder > Point to MP3s & Click
Not exactly rocket science!

You certainly don't need to use iTunes to get the content though - my
iPod Mini is full and none of the content came via Apple.

Just buy the ipod, you don't have to buy the music from them.

Philips GoGear. Got the 6 Gb version, very good I must say. Small little
thing.
