OT: RSI

I have been driving buses now for 2 years and in the past 6 months I
have been having pains in the knee and in the muscle in the back of my
upper leg. (right leg only - the buses are auto) I am sure this is
because my leg is in the same position for 7-8 hours a day. I have been
to the quack and the physio and despite doing the exercises things are
getting worse.

It's God punishing you for holding the traffic up in your slow bus.

I know there are truck drivers in UKRM and would like to know how they
get on and if they have found some kind of cure.

Do you find that the front edge of the seat pushes into the top of
your leg? Try repositioning yourself as it could be cutting off
circulation.
It also might not. YMMV.

A TENS machine helps with the pain and muscle spasm, and gentle
stretches help keep the nerves moving well too.

Cruise control mate. Move around as you want but not ideal for a bus! The
bus company will need to do a risk assesment and if it's RSI it falls under
DDA.

Not exactly the same, but I was diagnosed with RSI, or more precisely for
me, WRULD, in late 200/early 2001 and my Doc attributed it to an office
based job on top of my recent GSXR750Y purchase putting more weight through
my wrists (where the problem was appearing).
I sold the GSXR after less than a year on his advice.
1 year after that I had a new GP and, although the wrist problems had
subsided, I still had some mornings with chronic back pain (so bad I could
only get out of bed by rolling off the side).
The new GP sent me for X-rays and found I had, in layman's terms, lost a
load of the squishy-ness between some upper vertebrae and, at the same time,
had some deposits on the actual vertebrae. This, at times, causes grinding
between the vertebrae and crushes the nerves which causes the pain in my
wrists.
I would, therefore, try to get some sort of back X-ray, if possible, if only
to rule out a trapped/crushed/aggarvated nerve in the back causing symptoms
elsewhere...
