OT: Why not Suzuki Boulevard?
|
My MSF instructor recommended this bike as a Harley alternate.
|
Yes, but does he know what your last name is?
|
The reviews I read all seem to be extremely good.
The Harley "mystique" aside, is there a reason to pass on this bike
considering only handling/reliability as factors?
|
You didn't specify *which* Suzuki Boulevard you're
interested in as there's several different models. You
can read tons of road tests on Boulevards as well as
the earlier versions and other metric cruisers plus HDs
Keep in mind that some brand new metric cruisers cost
as much as Harleys depending on which model it is.
There's no reason to pass on a metric cruiser unless you
prefer a Harley and can afford one to buy one. Should
you plan to just ride a metric cruiser long enough til you
can get the Harley, buy a used one as they're cheaper
with most of the depreciation already bottomed out.

I'd think not ... Perhaps take your question to rec.motorcycles.suzuki

(I will have enough $$ for a Heritage one day, but can't afford one yet
:-( )

My Opinion:
The Boulevard a very nice bike. It's good looking, and has the Suzuki
dependability. I like the shaft drive, as well.
I've never ridden one, but I had a GS650L, also a shaft drive, for about
10 years. It never gave me a moment of grief, and had excellent handling.
It's a good alternative to buying into the MoFoCo. It has it's own look
and personality. It has hidden shocks, but give it a good look, and
you'll see more differences than similarities to a SoftTail.
some professional analysis of this bike.

Go for a Miata, you'll be happier.
|
|
I saw one (S40 single) during a recent cross country trip - I liked it.
|
That wouldn't have been while you where eating ice cream in Ohio would it?
|
They have clean lines, kinda small, but overall pleasing. I wouldn't be
embarrassed to have one - even if it makes my ass look big. My guess is
you're talking about the v-twin S83. That one you couldn't give to me.
Don't care for shaft drives, offset v-twin OHC configurations. But it is
affordable.
