Platyfest
22nd July. Email for details.
See you on the 15th ...
You probably will - at Chimay.
heh. Not quite what I meant, but ta for the reminder ;-)
holiday/weekend pass/ongoing employment situation.
Going to Chimay, then?
is there an "official" ukrm trip to Chimay this year?
not exactly close to Calais, is it?
We could always go on a night boat Portsmouth -> Le Havre.
true.
My other issue that is that if everything goes to plan, by mid-July I
won't have any suitable touring bikes in my garage.
The ZX7 would be ok for that? Or borrow one, Nigel Eaton appears to have
a surfeit of gaudy trash.
"if everything goes to plan", my garage will only have one bike in it
by mid July, and that one bike will not be one of the four currently
in there.
I may have something suitable.
"suitable touring"? What an odd idea.
"bikes at all suitable for touring".
You could borrow the Z200 if you like.
I think sweller has already lined him up for the MZ with the novel front
wheel angle. Either that or snorky.
I wonder if Snorky is a boy or a girl.
Hmm - I think even the bike I'm intending to have in the garage would
be better than that.
Wait till I get the fairing on it.
is that supposed to help?
It'll be a terrible convenience.
for those in need of a cheap laugh, certainly.
I don't think I can ginge you, since it was your idea originally but
see ^^
Never was, well, not one organised by TOGtours anyways. Just book and
I just don't remember any discussion of people going this year.
I discussed it briefly with Statto in Jan.
ah - that would have been during my brief UKRM hiatus.
turn up.
There's usually a bit of offline emailing to intersect on ferry times
etc and if there's an overnight hotel booked, e.g i've ridden down with
both Statto and Sweller previously.
I went down with Sweller and SD last year on the SOB run. I might take
the 7R this year, if I go.
There's talk of taking a hotel in the night before. Should we add you
a hotel? What on earth for? If I go, I'll pootle down to the Channel
Tunnel, and then across to Chimay, pitch the tent for a couple of
nights, and then back on across France and the Chunnel.
to the clique email distribution ?
TOG organised this last year, I think Statto is DFV'ing this time.
Otherwise you're on your own bookings wise ..
I'm booking a few rooms on the Friday night, somewhere between Calais
and Chimay, if anyone wants one. Probably around Cambrai, as I want it
to be the sort of distance that the Morini might reasonably cover in a
couple of hours without going bang.
The Mouton Blanc is the one I booked a couple of years ago - decent
food and a selection of bars within staggering distance.
This is, at the moment, a complete unknown as the furthest it's been
ridden in one hit is about five miles, but it's going in for the Ordeal
by MoT tomorrow and then it'll be hacked about to see if it can be
trusted on any kind of run. Prace bets now!
Come Chimay time, if I have the slightest doubt about it, then I'm
taking the 400 Four, and the fact that I've actually booked the 400 on
my ferry crossing tells you that I already have Severe Doubts And
Palpitations.
Anyway, this place looks nice, on the other side of Cambrai, if the
Morini is feeling ambitious:
Decent menus....
And if not, there's a Campanile in Cambrai, plus Le Chope, where a few
of us stayed three years ago. Le Chope is cheap & cheerful in a manky
part of Cambrai. Campaniles are always good value and you get a decent
breakfast.

If you'd had it two weeks later it would've been ideal as I'll be
passing nearish. Might have to pass, unfortunately.
